Hi yall,

I am confused, when I went to the store I tried to find the sticks of unsalted and salted butter but didnt have it all it had was a block of them. So I bought them, so how would I know how much of it makes one stick?

Thanks. icon_smile.gif

usually you buy a box of sticks. There are four sticks in one pound of butter. One stick equals half a cup of butter. or 1/4 lb equals 1/2 cup of butter.

Hope this helps

While my butter still cold I cut it in four sticks may not be perfectly the same but haven't noticed the difference . I do it with the wrapper still on so I don't get butter on my hands.I do this cause at Sam's the butter that comes individually wrapped by sticks costs a lot more

There are 16oz in a lb. Each stick weighs 4 oz.

I always buy in a block..cheaper and it doesn't take much time to weigh what I need.

I think that you'll love it. And it does make a difference if you don't use the salted & unsalted butter.

Your butter should be room temperature. You will get lumps if it is cold. You can try putting it in the microwave but only do a few seconds at time! You don't want melted butter becauase that will be too soft!

Most butter will get to room temp in about 1/2 hour or an hour. I speed it up by putting in microwave on defrost setting for about 15 seconds and then check it.

I read somewhere that if you are short of time you can let your butter sit in a bowl of tap water, wrapped of course. This will quicken the process of thawing. I will try it tonight because I forgot to take it out of the fridge before I left work this morning. Hope it works!

you can flavor your buttercream with any extracts that you want so almond would absolutely go well with the recipe.
