I know there was recently a huge post on the teddy bear cake pan...my question is...has anyone every baked the bear on just one half and laid him on top of a sheet cake? Also, the customer wants white cake...I usually use DH...will that be okay if I decided to make the whole bear? Any help?

I have made that cake with the dh mix...I included my egg yolks and it turned out very nice & firm. I'm assuming that yuo could probably cook just 1/2 of him....maybe put the pan on a cookie sheet or if youhave the rings from the sphere pan to help keep it level.

yep!!! icon_wink.gif DH will work!! Just make sure you grease and flour your pan well!

I haven't tried it using only half.....but I'm not real sure how you could do it and keep it even....Since when you lay it face down it tilts to one side!

Let us know if it works!!!

Honestly I haven't looked at the pan too closely, but if it rocks, I could probably roll/crumble up some aluminum foil to brace around it to keep it level. Guess worth a shot to try. I just thought it would be cute to try something different.

I think it should work then!!!

Best highlight of doing half.....if you're gonna star tip it your hand won't hurt "half" icon_wink.gif as bad!!!!

Actually I was thinking of doing the grass tip to make it look more "fluffy". However, I agree...less hand pain for sure! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help!
