Ideas For A Grad School Graduation Cake

My husband and his closest friends are all graduating from seminary and I need to make a cake for about 80 people. I want something fun(like a whimsical cake- but I have never made one!), and I want it to be personal. The only thing I can think of is that they call each other "trolls", like a troll is someone who practically lives at the school and loves homework, etc. I am stuck on this, and can't seem to figure out any good ideas other than just making a pretty cake!

How about a nice sheet cake for the main cake on the table and then trolls sitting on cup cakes... one to represent each of the graduates. As far as what to put on the sheet cake... grad cap ang gown with a rolled up deploma would be nice (of coarse that is pretty traditional). Good luck
