I have just finished an 'almost' distaster cake. Lady wanted Lightning McQueen with 'bumpy' mountain scene. Ok, I can do that sez I! I took a sketch round to her and she liked it, so off we go, NO wait, now she wants the cake for 50 people, not 15!! You see, this lady does not speak English and my Arabic is so poor we all got our wires mixed up. I had given her details in writing, but it was not until her husband saw the paperwork that he realised the mistake. ARRRRG! This was 2 days before the party. Well, it took 16 hours and all my family cutting out MMF to get there, but the lady was happy in the end. Moral of the story is....not only get it in writing - but also check that the client can read English. She also paid well over the odds for the thing so I am off now to buy a present for all my family helpers. Her husband said he will reccomend me to all their friends - please don't, please don't!
Your cake is AMAZING! Thank goodness her husband figured out the mistake or there would have been a lot of hungry people at that party! ![]()
That is really cool. I am so glad you got it figured out too. That would have been so sad. COOOLLL though, even small. I just love the way you did it. It looks just amazing. And you obviously have some amazing helpers!! Great job to you all!!! ![]()

That is one huge cake - are you sure its not for 500?
Beautiful job - it looks amazing! I never would have thought to do a scene like that!
Thanks you guys - the reason the cake is so big is a cultural one, the lady would be not just embarrassed - but ashamed - if she didn't have enough. She insisted on the size. I tried to tell her she didn't need this much but she was so worried about running out in front of her friends that she wouldn't hear of taking anything smaller. Just as well I didn't give her the original 10in. cake I had prep'ed in the first place!
