Does anyone use the cannon ip1600 printer for edible images? I have searched for hours for other cannon edible image compatible printers and have only found this one. If anyone has it, does it take the 2 cartridges from Kopykake?

Edible ink cartridges to fit the iP1600 haven't come out yet. You can still find the iP1500 though at some online stores and on eBay.

I too would like info on the printers. Does it cost a fortune. I am a serious home baker and don't do it for $$$. Never can tell though.

You can get a new printer for around $50-100 and then the basic supplies would be another $60-80. The best printers to use right now are either the Canon iP1500 or the Canon iP3000. You can find one new on eBay or by doing a froogle search.

Edible imaging supplies can be purchased at several online sites. I buy from www.kopykake.com or www.sugarcraft.com

I bought my Canon Pixma ip3000 printer at Office depot for $99 and then got a $20 mail in rebate. The cartridges for it are $50 and the icing sheets are $27 for I believe 24 sheets. I didn't feel this was teribbly expensive. I'll practice my printing on my regular printer so won't be wasting my edible supplies. Won't take long to make back what I have invested. I'm waiting on my ink and icing sheets order now. <--------drumming fingers Ü

thanks for the information about the printers. There's so many different printer models under Cannon that I got confused. icon_eek.gif I'm going out today to look for a printer but was unsure of what exactly to look for. So...one more question....are these full sized printers or are they the ones that only print the pictures? icon_rolleyes.gif Thanks for everyone's help. I'm anxious to get a printer and start printing my own photos for my cakes.

They are standard size printers that print up to 8.5" x 11" so they'll print on the 7.5" x 10" frosting sheets.

I like to run through practice sheets on my edible image printer using regular paper... it doesn't waste a whole lot of ink and it also keeps the ink running if you have to not use it for several weeks.
