This is the sweetener in the diabetic white cake recipe. First, is this a powder or liquid? And second of all can I substitute it with Splenda?

Thanks!

I've seen sorbitol commercially in both liquid and powder forms. I think it works ok as a sugar substitute for diabetics, but it wouldn't be my first choice as a sugar alternative. Excessive amounts can have a laxative effect because it is not easily digested. It's a little too chemical for me.
I'd rather use Splenda, which is about the equivalent in sweetness for a substitute. Of course, all artificial sugars have their issues. I'd rather have a little bite of something really good than a big ol' piece of something mediocre!
