Hi, I found this site a few days ago and can't leave it alone. I've got a few pics of some of the first cakes i've made. Would like to know what everyone thinks.............tho after looking at everone else's i feel a bit silly showing you........ but please be honest. icon_redface.gif

Also can anyone give me some tips on getting royal icing flat on the cake surface. i think i may just be too heavy handed.

Do you use royal icing as the frosting on your cake?

I use buttercream and use the Viva papertowel to smooth it.

I've only ever practised with royal icing as a frosing except for on Christmas cakes when i 'peak it' but would love to be able to cover the whole cake with it. I live in the uk and we mainly use fondant and royal icing over here.

I have just had a look at your cakes and love your scooby cake. I wanted to leave a comment but the box is not there, so I thought I would let you know away.
