Can I Do This?

I want to make the present cake with the bow. This is a cake that I have made before. This time instead of doing it all in fondant I want to do only the bow in fondant. Can that be done fondant and buttercream. I will have to let it dry first but any suggestions becasue I am stuck. Thanks Jen Sorry it messed up and posted the picture 3 tiems....wierd.

The cake can be done in buttercream with your fondant bow and ribbons, and you can do the fondant flowers as well and stick them on the buttercream cake as well. If you look through the cakes posted on CC, you will see many, many done that way!

Yes, that is how I like to do mine now-a-days, because that way, you get that nice buttercream taste and not all fondant. icon_smile.gif

I did a gift cake that was buttercream with a ribbon and bow made from modelling chocolate, and it worked out fine (my buttercream is all butter, no crisco and it wasn't a problem). It's in my photos if you want to take a look.

Yes, you definetly can do it in buttercream with a fondant bow. If you smooth the cake with a viva paper towel after frosting it, you can get the smooth look of fondant.

Yes I did a gift cake iced in crusting BC-(used viva method for smooothng) and added the fondant bow
