Can I reuse Royal Icing that has been frozen and then defrosted in the fridge? It seems to be rather thick and, um...Crumbly. Would I just bring it to room temp and maybe add some milk to think it out?

Thanks!

Well, I just found out (on this site...from very helpful people) that moisture will ruin royal icing. So......I'm thinking that as your icing thawed, it sweated, and I'm wondering if that ruined it or not.

On the other hand, would you be able to mix some water into it?

Could the "Crumbly" be from it not being sealed properly? Freezing it shouldn't cause that effect if it was sealed air tight. Sounds like air got in a little or there was some icing on the side of the container that may have dried a little and got mixed in.......no help for that if that's what happened. Yes, bring back to room temp. If it's thick - add some water to it a LITTLE at a time and re-beat it. Should come right back so you can use. I freeze all the time and re-use (info I got from this site too). Good luck.
