for a cake tablescape that I have coming up in 3 weeks. The theme for the overall fundraiser is "Cherish the Children". It is for a school for behavioral students and special education needs students that is privately owned and works on donations and scholarships.

My cake will be a lighthouse (3D, of course). The bottom part of the lighthouse will be cake dummies, stacked and covered in fondant. I will have an actual cake on top for the light room and the roof will be rice krispy treats. I am going to atempt to make sugar "glass", but if that fails--I will use plastic sheets to make windows.

I need ideas on how to finish/hide the stand which is the white, plastic cake plateau from Wilton. I was thinking of trying to make boulders/rocks and covering with brown fondant and light overspray of black. Also adding a few chocolate seashells. Stack the rocks around and up to the lighthouse. Any other ideas out there???

My table will be "Guiding Children to Succeed".

I was thinking the same as you make some fondant rock, choc, shells, put some water on it...It will be very cute! Good Luck! thumbs_up.gif

I like the fondant boulder idea!! Our lighthouse has them to help with erosion. They'd cover up the plate nicely. You could marble the fondant to look more like rocks.
