I am making a pink and choc wedding cake for tomorrow and want to put pink fondant stripes on a choc cake. Because of time I'm using Wilton. Do I need to add gum-tex to the fondant before I cut my stips or no? My problem is whenever I attempt to add fondant stripes to a cake, they are always to soft and they stretch and look horrible. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I haven't made stripes......but I just did a cake with fondant diamonds on buttercream and when I was picking them up they kept stretching all out of shape so what I did was cut them all out and let them sit out for an hour......they stiffened up some but were still pliable and flexible they just didn't leave finger dents or stretch.......and I was using MMF wich is much stretchier than wilton's fondant!
