Hey! This is my first ever new post!

I have 4 cakes scheduled to be made in the next 2 months and one of them for May is for my neice's makeover party. They are pretty laid back and will love whatever I do, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. icon_confused.gif

I thought about a vanity table and a mirror from choc melts? or somehow making a big tube of lipstick? I really like doing 3-D cakes instead of sheet cakes, or on top of sheet(or round) cakes.

PLEASE HELP!

This cake by Debbie Brown is really cute. I have the book and it looks fairy easy to make.

Hopefully this comes up, I've never attached a link before.[/img]

Maybe you could do a FBCT of girls in robes with either their hair up in a towel, or with rollers in their hair. You could have around them a bunch of make up, nail polish, brushes, combs, blow dryers, etc.. You could also just do the make up & stuff out of fondant. Are their any photos of these types of cakes in the gallery?

A cake that's shaped like the plastic makeover doll heads in the toy section. There are spiderman cakes in the galleries that use a wig dummy for the actual head and the shoulders are the cake. You could do little chocolate molded makeup.

I know I sound stupid, but I don't know what all the different phrases are yet. FBCT? Some type of chocolate transfer? If so, I hadn't heard of that until today on this site. I would like to know more about it and I'm sure there is a lot of great info on this site for many different decorating techniques that I can use.

I have made shapes out of fondant before, but they don't tend to harden well and/or are too sensitive and break when dry. I would like some tips for that also. (Even with the problems, I have used this technique before.)

I have not checked the gallery, my computer is acting crazy and am having problems getting to certain pages, hence this post being posted TWICE!

If you wanted to do the slumber party idea, check out Twinsline7 she had some great slumber party girls. You could get some ideas from hers.

FBCT is a frozen buttercream transfer & they work great. There are instructions on this site that tell how to make one. Also, on your fondant, have you tried adding gumpaste to it? That will make it get a lot harder when it dries.

Thanks for the gumpaste tip. I haven't tried a lot of different things because I'm limited on time and supplies. If I know it will work I will certainly use it, but I can't afford to try 10 different things to get the results I want, so I've been limited in what I can do.

I will definitely try the gumpaste - how much would you add? I've never used it before.

With the gumpaste you'd want to mix it at least 50/50 with your fondant.
