I was looking at Wiltons Magical Carriage last night. It says you have to use 4 cups of sugar in the Ball pan. AFter unmoling you scrape out the insides until you have it like a shell....
WHat if you just did a
1/4 inch lining of sugar and used a form or ballon to hold the shape?
ANyone ever made one of these?

Just curious...

Oh, also, can you color the sugar first?

I think you would have a hard time getting the sugar out of the mold without breaking it. When you've got all that sugar packed in the mold it's solid and won't break. I let it sit about an hour or so and then scoop out the center. You could probably color the sugar by adding some paste color to the sugar and water mixtrue.

Yes, while mixing the sugar/water is when to add any coloring.

No, but I've done sugar eggs and I've made sugar bowls..It sounds like the same technique.
