The question :!!!

I have some Fondant that i can roll... it is white ..

can I put it any other color with the same food color that i use for the icing ?

How do you work with it ? does it have to be heated with friction of our hand to get a "playdoo" texture ?

Can I do figurines with it ? and if so ... do you have a trick "stick" the parts togeter ?

Thank you soo much detective.gif

Hi there...and welcome...your cakes are very cool...

Re: Fondant....

You can use gel colors to color it. Just knead it in until it's blended thoroughly. The heat from your hands will soften it a bit, but you can get a head start by popping it into the microwave for 5-10 seconds.

I also add a dollop (maybe a tsp.) of Crisco while I am kneading. It keeps the fondant from cracking and makes it nice and smooth. I use it for figures all the time (look at my photos). What I do is keep a can of Gum-tex in front of me, and as I take a piece of fondant to mold it, I first dip it in to the Gum tex, knead it and then work with it. It hardens better with the gum tex.
As far as sticking pieces together....if the pieces are fresh, they might stick together without the help of anything, or just a light brush of water with your finger or a brush.
If the pieces have already dried, you can use a dab of royal icing, or make a paste from a piece of fondant and a little water. I have never tried the latter but have read about it on CC.

Have fun and post your work!!!
