Ok, my husband is at home from work for the day since he is sick with a sore throat, acky, and tired. Does anyone else feel like their husbands turn into total babies when they are sick?
I was sick at the beginning of the month with a sore throat, acky, tired, lost my voice, along with an ear infection and still had to get the kids ready for school and take them, go to work, in which I need my voice since I do rhymes and songs for preschoolers, pick the kids up from school and get supper ready. I had gotten sick afew days before I had to go in a plane with an ear infection and visit my family in Ontario. Is that when MOM NEEDS a sick day?!!!
Oh well what can you do? Now I have to think of something to do with the girls since they are home from school for March Break.
Now I am currently getting ask to make him some breakfast. Oh bother in the words of Winnie the Pooh!!
Thanks for letting me vent!!
Oh Sick One asked for scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. Guess I am get to make some breakfast now!!!
Oh I so feel your pain!!! When my fiance gets sick its off to bed he goes for a week! Me however, I just got over pnuemonia in which I had for a month and i was working, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and everything else that I normally do on a daily basis whle i was sick. Just goes to show you who is the weakest sex here huh! LOL
Feeling your pain here, too!! My answer to your question...mom gets a sick day when she's in the hospital!! and not even completely, then...I just had back surgery and stayed on the phone with my mom answering silly questions about my kids (who were staying with her).
DH is a COMPLETE baby when he gets so much as a sniffle. I'm totally over taking care of him, I just tell him to suck it up. I've spent too much time hobbling around with back problems and not gotten nearly enough help to be in the mood to coddle him.
My baby DH calls in when he gets sinus...when I get sick I still have to get up at 5:30 and drive the kids 45 minutes to school...wait on my youngest who gets out at 10:50...come all the way home, make sure dinner is ready to go into the oven and done by the time he gets home at 3:30 (yes he wants to eat that early) and make sure all the laundry, dishes, floors and bathrooms are done on a daily basis.....I get a vacation when he goes out of town for a day or 2. That means I have someone take the kids and pick the kids up and I don't clean till the last second
. Oh well thats why mom is the "king" of the household ![]()
It always amazes me that women give birth and have stiches in places you don't want to think about and get sent home with tylenol to take care of a baby yet when a man has a vasectomy he gets stuff that knocks him out for 2 days.
I have 7 kids and have even left the hospital about 2 hours after giving birth and back to work (as being mommy and wife) right away.
One of them I was in and out of the hospital in less than 6 hours!
Oh, yeah! I recently had the flu, which turned into bronchitis & pneumonia. I also had a broken rib that is still healing. And! the antibiotics made me temporarily lactose intolerant, which made me have a few miserable days/nights before I figured that out. I think I got to sleep in one day.
Now, DH was sick with the flu in December, and he took 3 days off work. Slept the whole time.
In the words of Erma Bombeck: They're not going to believe you're sick until you throw up ..... so do it!
I tell folks, "I'm a mom.... I don't have TIME to be sick!"
And kinda along these lines..... how come when a man takes a day off of work, it's so he can sit at home and channel surf because it's a day off. But a woman takes a day off of work and it's so she can catch up on all the housework that she can't get to because everyone else in the house is just sitting around channel surfing!!! ![]()
ANd yes, men are big freakin' babies when it comes to being sick. And god forbid they actually take medicine for it! "That stuff never works!" he says. I say back to him, "Of course it doesn't .... when all it does is SIT IN THE BOTTLE IN THE MEDICINE CABINET!"
Here's my rule: If you not sick enough to take medicine or go to the doctor, then you're not sick enough to need "taken care of". Get off your a$$ and do it yourself. I'm a mom..... I have REAL work to do!
(Can you tell this is a hot button with me!?)
I have had ONE sick day in 12 tears....and after getting meds from the dr. I just died and thanks to my oldest she picked up the slack. She is so awesome.

Yes, but we all know how bad 'Man Flu' is... we'd call it a sniffle but, let's face it, only men know how men 'suffer'.
Ok, what the heck. Him and I are watching a movie while the girls are watching there own. The girls friends come over and they want to go outside. I go down get him something to eat and get the girls ready, go back to watch the movie and he did not pause it for me. I ask why and it was because he was to tired. Man alive!!! I just don't understand!!
When the people in my house are sick (DH & 2 little boys) I do everything short of wearing a face mask not to get sick! I wash my hands constantly and limit the hugs and kisses, I wipe down everything with those antibacterial wipes. I do this because I know that I don't have time to be sick! I also work in a school with children. I have Lysol, hand sanitizer, tissues and wipes in my office. I also keep those Zicam lozenges in my purse, if you feel a tickle in your throat suck on one every 3 hours or so. They have a funny after taste, but I really think that they work.
