I am needing to make some Whipped Icing for a cake this weekend and I'm not sure which is the best recipe to make. Does anyone have a good recipe for one? I want it to taste like the icing at the bakeries. I also want to be able to decorate with it.
Thanks,
Ruthie
Alot of the bakeries use Rich's Bettercreme. It comes in a carton and you whip it. This may be what you are referring to.

I was just about to ask the same question-something that is usuable to decorate not just whipped cream but not as heavy as BC
I don't have any recipes for whipped topping that will hold up. The only thing I can suggest is "Whip'n'top" or "Pastry Pride". They both come in a quart size container.
so where can you buy Pastry Pride??
gordon food service carries rich's bettercreme, which is the same kind of thing as pastry pride.
do you have to add any sugar to rich's bettercreme or to pastry pride? Are they just like whipping creams?
I usually buy my Whipped Icing at a local cake supply store. I pay $15.00 for a quart (I think it's a quart) It is alot of icing. It is liquid all I have to do is put it into the mixer until it is a stiff consistency and they use it to ice your cakes. It is wonderful. I don't remember the brand I use.
Sam's wholesale might sell stuff like that too.
I use to buy it at Walmart but most of the Walmarts don't sell the icing anymore. I know Kroger's does because I bought some from them not to long ago.
I just used, for the first time, 'Frostin' Pride',and it was like Costco frosting....whipped and creamy. I also bought Pastry Pride and Rich's Bettercream but haven't used it yet.
I havent found a recipe to make at home that is like the Costco icing. None I have made could be piped very easily and most have to stay refrigerated.![]()
