I'm going to be trying decorated cookies this next week. My dgd will be spending a week with us and she is gonna help...LOL...she is 3 1/2 so this could be lots of fun!!

If I use the RBC, do I need to let that dry before adding the RI details? If so, for how long?

Then the RI details need to dry overnight before bagging?

Thanks for all the help you all give to those of us in need. Your all just great!

I haven't used rolled buttercream so I can't really help you out (sorry), but as a mom of a 4 and 5 year old I appreciate that you will be getting "help" icon_smile.gif Have fun! Jodie

I just made cookies with RBC and I was told to let them sit out overnight to give the RBC time to dry out a little. I did and they definately would work out better if you let them dry.

Let the RBC dry overnight before bagging or you will have greasy spots on the bag from the RBC. As far the RI on the RBC, I just let the rolled buttercream set for a bit (maybe 2 hours or so) and then I put on the royal icing details... but that's only because I like to do one task at a time and I will still baking cookies during that 2 hour period. I'm sure you could put the RI details in right away. Just not 100% sure.

When I use RBC I usually just get to piping as soon as possible. I don't let the RBC sit to dry before piping. The royal hasn't broken down on me yet. icon_lol.gif

I figure that I have to let them sit overnight anyway for the RI to dry; if I pipe them soon enough, the RBC and RI can dry at the same time. thumbs_up.gif

Yep, I just pipe the RI right onto the RBC....I don't wait. But I do let the RI dry overnight.

Thank you all for your replies. Sounds like we can detail with RI pretty much right away and then let them sit out to dry.

She is so excited, she is packing her rolling pin and her apron!!...LOL

Thanks again
