I am making a cake for my aunt and uncle's 35th anniversary party that my cousins are throwing them. They are doing a 70's/disco theme. I am planning on doing a disco ball on the top (made from the sport ball pan), and am kind of lacking on ideas for the rest of the cake. They've told me to do whatever I want.

Any ideas? It needs to serve 100.

TIA!

You could do one of the tiers ( I think you're doing that! so sorry if not) like the checkered floor in "Saturday Night Fever"!

I also like what sweetbaker said about little records and platform shoes..maybe mini fondant pieces!?

Good luck coming up with ideas! thumbs_up.gif

I made this for a disco theme. Probably would do the top a little different next time

That's a great cake, MPC! How did you make the silhouette on the side, piped or painted?

Hmm..... I think I'm getting some thoughts now (it's about time, I haven't had any in a LONG time icon_wink.gif )

the lady brought me an invitation with that image silhouette on it, I copied it, cut it out and used it as a template for my John Travolta guy. Google search night fever? was that the name of the movie?

Now that you have some ideas you can run with it.

Search "disco ball" in the galleries, in the bottom left is a great one. (not mine icon_smile.gif

I had a request for tie-dye for a 70's theme party. I hand-painted the design on a t-shirt shaped cake - turned out really cute. Maybe you could do one of the layers like that? Its in my pics if you want to see details...

Sounds like you got some good ideas.

I would make the colors bright maybe even tie dyed. The dancer is a great idea.

Whatever you do Please be sure to post the photo when you finish.
