I am going to try to make Earlene's pearls for a border on a cake with buttercream icing. I have to do some other decorating first so the icing will certainly be crusted by the time I'm ready to add the individual pearls.

How do I attach them?

Do I have to "glue" them one by one with a dab of buttercream? If I press them down into the icing, they won't look completely round anymore and I don't want them rolling off the cake!

I use a lot of the pearls on cakes and I "glue" them to the cake by using tip 1 and either place a small dot of icing on the back of the pearl and then place it on the cake using tweezers, or I will place the dot of icing directly on the spot on the cake where I want the pearl to go, then place the pearl on the icing dot. I would think you would need to "glue" them with the icing since your border will already be hardened, otherwise, you will dent in your icing border. Good Luck!
