Are they really the best colourings? I'm considering getting some but I want to know that they are worth the investment as shipping will probably be quite expensive for me! Do they last a long time once opened? Thanks!

I'm their biggest fan now. I never had any until I ordered them from CakeCentral and I'm in love. They color beautifully and a little goes a long way. They blend very well and they aren't washed out like Wilton colors. I had a hard time coloring IMBC with wilton because little chunks of color wouldn't mix well but the Americolor works beautifully. Try it and you'll love it.

Thanks, I've seen a 12 colour set on Ebay for $16,95 and shipping isn't too bad, so I'll give them a go and see!

I will never use Wilton colors again after trying the americolor! They are absolutely wonderful! Just being able to "squirt" them by drops would be enough for me, but the colors blend so well, and they are so vivid!
You won't be sorry if you invest in them....believe me! You will only be sorry that you waited so long to try them! icon_biggrin.gif

I just bought some Americolors and have used them in icing and loved them. However I wanted to color white chocolate today and put some leaf green Wilton color in, no problem, didn't like the green so I added a drop of Americolor avocado green, got the color I was looking for but my chocolate immediately siezed up and hardened when I stirred in the Americolor, why would this happen?

I thought you always had to use oil based colors on Chocolate. Could your wilton have been oil based? I'm certain normal americolor is water based. That would make is sieze.

Hmm, I don't know. I have always used the regular wilton colors on chocoalte fine. The same ones I use in royal icing so I don't think they are oil based. I didn't know this info, why would water cause chocolate to sieze up?

To use Americolor to color chocolate you have to get Flo-coat, which coverts the Americolors into an oil base.

Flo-coat is an Americolor product which we also carry.

Americolors are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am replacing my Wilton colors with them and I'm so happy about it. I had to redo a cake 3 times because it was supposed to be lavender and it kept fading to blue-gray. Fortunately, it was a dummy cake and not an order. Finally, after the second time, I asked on here and was told to use Americolor. I'm so glad I did. The third time worked and it's still lavender (a couple of months later).

Hey guys!

I also just got my first order of Americolors that I ordered from here a few days ago. I had SO MUCH FUN last night trying out some of the different colors, so I could see the difference between mauve, soft pink, dusty rose, etc. It was a blast - and the colors are gorgeous and some I've never been able to acheive with Wilton colors. The Americolor ivory is just gorgeous - as long as you just use a little (at one point I used too much and it became sort of yellow-y) - and I love that I don't have to mess around with toothpicks. And I FINALLY found a true burgundy! Woo hoo!

To Euphoria -

Water will seize up chocolate, and most icing colors are made with water. I found out if you mix the color with a little bit of vegetable oil before adding it to the chocolate -it won't make it seize up - but I found the chocolate dried a little more brittle. They make special colors just for candy and chocolate - so you may want to invest in those to be safe. They're not any more expensive than regular ones, I don't think, but you have to go to someplace with a large selection of cake/candy supplies, like a cake store or Michael's or Hobby Lobby to find them. Or, if you'll be doing a lot of chocolates, just buy the candy melts in whatever colors you need.

Hope this helps!

Love them! I especially appreciate the broader range of colors they carry! Wilton has had the same colors for the 13 years I've been doing this, with a few exceptions and it was time for something new! icon_smile.gif

The Americolors I ordered form Ebay arrived and I agree - I used them to decorate the cookies I posted on here today - the red was red and the black was black without much effort at all - I dread to think how many hours I've spent trying to get red and black from all the other makes of colours I've got - now I need to use all of those up! When the other colours are gone and this site stocks up again I will be buying the big bottles of colours definately!

Americolor's guarantee is a general guarantee, it has nothing to do with Cake Central.
