I did the Pattycakes in Philly her first 2 shows. You have to do it for the experience and the love. $75.00 is a bit pricey plus her cakes have to be edible no cake dummies. I did not place on her first competition but took second on her Valentines. Most shows are under $25.00 fee.

Kim Morrison is a PA ICES member and she did a demo once and the thing that sticks in my head is a comment about contest. "Enter any contest that you can because you will always walk away with more knowledge than you came in with and who knows you might win" You can't win every competition and you shouldn't go in thinking I have to win or else. Enter a contest for the passion and love of the art and meet new wonderful friends. You can talk to others and judges and that could help you improve. I say if you can aford do it!

Personally, Lazy_Susan, I am really wondering why you are questioning this opportunity........I would love if there were ANY cake show in a reasonable driving distance from my home that I could enter as a non-professional. Just think of all the experience you would gain. Then think of us who don't have the opportunity you have. Go for it all the way - - - also be kind and take us along on your journey with you through posts at CakeCentral. I am going to live vicariously through you! And since it is St. Patrick's Day, "May the luck of the Irish go with you!"

Thank you everyone for believing in me. I'm going to try to do it icon_smile.gif Right now my only obstacle is that I work on the days of the Show. But maybe I can get people here at work to trade days with me so I can have those days off. I'm going to email them all tonight and ask if anyone will trade. My hubby is also very supportive so it's extra nice. Usually he doesn't take much of an interest in what I do but he believes in me and my "cakery" abilities icon_biggrin.gif
If I can do it I will take lots of pictures for everyone to see...
