Has anyone done this before, or do you know anywhere that might have directions for how to do it? Thanks a ton!

There are some really lovely ones in the gallary under gumpaste. Mine are much less life like close up see my wedding cake with the purple ribbon and hydrangas

I make a 5 petal flower ( should be a 4 petal I think)in either white or soft blue ( make some lighter than others) thin the edges and pinch on a wire then when dry I wire in groups of three and then into bunches of 5 then depending on the cake use as is for filler or into larger heads of 3 to 5 bunches

I use petal dust to make more realistic

even the white get a touch of green on the edges and even a tad of pink and blue

The blues get shades of blue and a touch of pink and green petal dust.

Do you use a cutter to get the shape? And, how do you get it onto the wite without messing up how the flower looks? Oh, I looked at yours in the gallery and they are beautiful!

I just got my new issue of American Cake Decorating magazine & there's an article about a cake with hydrangea flowers in there with instructions. If you would like a copy, pm your email address to me & I can email it to you.

Hello,
If you are the same person who posted about this at Wilton.com, I just emailed you the instructions from the magazine.

Kim I would love a copy of that article if you would not mind

to get it on the wire ....first I use a cutter just a 5 petal round one after thinning the edges which I do on my finger instead of on foam I put it over a rounded dowel sqyish the back to and slide the wire in I dry them with the wire and the back of the flower on a turntable which allows the petals to hang over the side usually I have to open the blossoms after a few minutes.

I will try do do some pictures next week after I get done with the cakes I have

my method is unorthidox but easy
