My town is hosting a Spring Expo where area businesses set up booths and feature what they may do or carry. I want to do something that will make people just say whoa!! I recently did a topsy turvy cake and currently have an upside down wedding cake in my display window and now my brain in a vacant space that seems to only produce tumbleweeds. I am struggling to create an idea PLEASE HELP ME!!
I have been thinking something springy but that's all the farther I have gotten. Thanks for all the help.
Brainstorming
- mini cakes to display ornate techniques like gumpaste flowers, brush
embroidery, or stringwork
- Mother's Day related...great holiday coming up & people will book for it.
maybe religious or flowery like tulips or daffodils
- maybe a 3D kids cake like a purse & makeup for a girl or dragon for a
boy
I have been trying to plan out the set up of my spring expo table before I actually plan the cakes. The upside down cake you have is awesome! I would definitely use it. Maybe have one large cakelike that & then on the other side have several different height cake stands so you can display multiple types of cake w/ your portfolio in the center. JAI

i am only going to have room for one cake this time because I am unable to man the booth because we are catering a huge wedding for 450 people an won't have me or any staff to spair so I am sharing a booth with some other downtown businesses. I am super bummed to because I wanted to use my new chocolate fountain that day.
So I need a super cake that will WOW everyone.
What about the floral illusion wedding cakes, where it looks like the stems are supporting and going through the top tier? I have to say that I was "WOWED" when I saw a picture...It's sure to get people's attention. I attached a picture of it and have read about how to do it on another forum, here at cakecentral. Your upside down wedding cake is very cool, you can certainly pull this one off!!
Does the idea of a garden seem too plain? You could have gumpaste fairies on gumpaste flowers. Bees on roses. You could have a cupcake cake where each cupcake represented a flower pot that you then decorate with different flowers. Or if you want to use your fountain, if you have a garden you can use your chocolate fountain as the focus of the cake. St you could have the fountain at the center right? You just need a pretty big mold so that you can then cut a hole in its center to hold the fountain. I am thinking of a botanical garden theme here. Divide the cake into three quadrants and have a chinese garden, a rose garden and another---perhaps a pond area. Sorry if this sounds haphazard, Im typing as I go. This is how all my ideas come to life. Im going to get drawing this one right now.
