When you are putting the pearls on a cake, how do you pick them up? Do you just pick them up, or do you use tweezers or something? I'm so afraid I am going to put my finger in the side of the cake when I'm trying to put them on.
Also, does anyone have a preference as to what size (mm) pearls you use? I will be doing this for the first time for a wedding cake in April and I have no idea what I am doing!

earlene moore has wonderful directions on her site for making the fondant pearls. I made some for the tweety cake. They aren't all the same size cause I wanted them to look cartoony (to go wiith tweety of course). Here the link to her site...

I had already seen this site but it doesn't say anything about how to place them on the cake. Tweezers, fingers?

use your fingers....much less likely to leave an impression on the pearls. I'd be afraid to use tweezers for that reason unless I as placing them in a very tight spot.

I would imagine that placing them with tweezers would be better than fingers. They are so small sometimes that its hard to see where you are placing them with your fingertips in the way. If you visit www.justcake.com, her first few pictures show the pearls in a bowl with tweezers, so I vote tweezers. Good luck. Love to hear how it turns out!

I think tweezers too! They are pretty little to do it w/your fingers. I use tweezers.
