I used a strawberry canned pie filling in one of my cakes the other day and left it out on the counter (covered) it was fine.

I've used the strawberry pie fillings and do not refrigerate them. I don't see why you would need to, there is nothing perishable in them.

since that's not intended or made for cake filling, flavor wise, it is ok, but I would be concerned about texture, the juices might run down the side if you put it all the way to the edge. icon_smile.gif

thanks... i plan on putting the wall of icing around the edge so it won't leak through, it might just soak the bottom cake. i'm going to try the apple filling for my cake on monday (for class) and then i have to make someone a birthday cake on friday so maybe i'll use it if it turns out okay
