How long is Wilton's BC recipe (made w/shortening and no butter) stay good for at room temp? Does it need to be refridgerated at all?

I believe I read somewhere that it can stay in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks as long as it's kept airtight.

it's good at room temp for three or four days, no problem.

I'm just catching up on the posts from the last couple of days...so I'm a little late but I wanted to put my two cents in. I've used BC that had been in the fridge for 3 weeks and it tasted just fine and had no problems. It was the Class BC for the wilton classes so it had no butter or eggs. HTH!

Wilton says their class buttercream (water/crisco) is good on the counter for several weeks. I've kept it in the fridge for a few months with out problems. You can also freeze it. icon_smile.gif

I keep the BC with half Crisco and half butter in the fridge for a couple of weeks too......just not unrefrigerated like the class BC.
