Im thinking of going to the store and getting like 3 burgundy colors mayba that will do the trick... icon_cry.gif I need this done by 5pm

think of it this way when you add red to white what do you get, PINK... so take your white and add a touch of black (just the end of a toothpick worth!)stir, let it sit a minute and then start adding your burgandy.... you have to have a darker base to achieve burgandy or red... trust me I learned the hard way working on a wedding cake... 4 batches of different shades of pink, and about 10 jars of paste later, I figured it out..... hope this helps!

don't forget, dark colors will get darker over time. i used burgandy once and it was light as i was frosting and decorating, then it darkened as the cake sat.

good luck

I've always used a burgundy gel plus a mixture of brown and black to achieve a good dark burgundy. Don't be afraid to add some more black (a little at a time though!!), that's what really seems to darken it up for me.

So if i add a touch of black I'll get a gray base coat. DO you think a brown base would work? I have to make another batch of BC.. I made burgundy before and I do remember as it sat it did turn a beautiful color... Thanks for all the suggestions
