I used my entire gel container of burgundy and it looks bright pink... I"ve added Browns, purples, and a dab of black. Its not darkening and i dont know what else to do.. Im thinking of going to the store and getting like 3 burgundy colors mayba that will do the trick...
I need this done by 5pm
I used the full thing of Wilton Burgundy and some AmeriColor but that burgundy is even worse... its to light.
No I havent.. Will that work.. The sound of it scares me right now..
think of it this way when you add red to white what do you get, PINK... so take your white and add a touch of black (just the end of a toothpick worth!)stir, let it sit a minute and then start adding your burgandy.... you have to have a darker base to achieve burgandy or red... trust me I learned the hard way working on a wedding cake... 4 batches of different shades of pink, and about 10 jars of paste later, I figured it out..... hope this helps!
don't forget, dark colors will get darker over time. i used burgandy once and it was light as i was frosting and decorating, then it darkened as the cake sat.
good luck
what could go wrong
you're already stressing! i think cocoa powder would help.
I've always used a burgundy gel plus a mixture of brown and black to achieve a good dark burgundy. Don't be afraid to add some more black (a little at a time though!!), that's what really seems to darken it up for me.
So if i add a touch of black I'll get a gray base coat. DO you think a brown base would work? I have to make another batch of BC.. I made burgundy before and I do remember as it sat it did turn a beautiful color... Thanks for all the suggestions
Ohhh My it really does change colors when the temp changes... when it gets to room temp its this BEAUTIFUL bright deep Burgundy and Im so happy.. Thanks so so so Much...
