? For Those Who Who Have The New Wilton Book

Hi,
My book is on order through my local cake supply store. I saw it has some cute cakes that are frosted and then sprinkled with maybe colored sugar. I'd like to make a cake like this and need to know if it is just buttercream frosting and colored sugar. Can someone confirm this? Thanks!
I am talking about the new Wilton Tiered Cakes book. It is really one of the best books I've seen from Wilton.
Okay, got the book in front of me. The heart shaped 3 tier cake is done with fondant but it says to use a sponging effect on that one. Doesn't have "sugar". The green three tier circle says to lightly ice with buttercream then cover with rolled fondant. Thin 2 - 3 tablespoons of piping gel with water; brush on cakes and immediately sprinkle with sparkling sugar. Hope this helps. Same goes for the Retro Romance which is a three tier white one with fondant rolled roses around it.
Umm, fondant, ha? I going to try to use buttercream instead. Let's see how it turns out. Thanks a lot for looking into this!
