Anything colored black will. (or red, dark blue, green......)

I was just going to post about black fondant. I cant get it to turn a deep black I have used almost all of a .75 oz bottle and its still gray. Im only coloring like 2 cups.. How do I do it ???

It's not as grey as you think it is. leave it for a while and it will be black. I didn't use nearly that much in the ugly poker cake in my pics, and it looked grey at first, but after I let it sit a while it turned as black as I could hope for.

By the fact that you are saying it is gray, not purple, you must already be using Americolor, not Wilton. icon_wink.gif

That's a good thing, because Americolor does make a nice true black.

Definitely leave it to develop the color for an hour or two. (out of direct sunlight or fluorescent lights)

I hate making black fondant. I will buy it if at all possible before making it. However, Americolor has a Super black that will work. Also, let it set for a few hours to darken up.

The other thing I heard was to color a small ball of fondant first to get the dark color you want then slowly add more white fondant and mix together with the dark ball. When it starts to look to light add a bit more color.

It's hard to color a large batch at once.
