If I use cherry pie filling as a cake filling will it soak into the cake and make it soggy? Thanks for the help!

When I've used it, I've put it in a strainer first and tapped out most of the sauce part. I also use it with buttercream and make a dam, so it doesn't soak into the cake or out the sides.

You can spread a thin layer of piping gel on the layers before adding the filling.
