Hi everybody..
If I am going to make a sheetcake covered with fondant and put a cross cake covered with fondant on top of it , can I use a DH butter cake mix..Should I add anything to it..Will it be able to hold the fondant.."My people" love the DH butter cake mix, so I don't want to change it all that much, but I want to make sure it can hold the fondant..Thanks everybody..
Also just a note to all you cookie decorators..I made some cookies for my son's Christening and they are A LOT of WORK!!! My hat goes off to all of you who do such great cookies, they are so time consuming. Mine did come out good, I froze then and I have my fingers crossed...Now if only this cake comes out good..Oh the stress..

DH holds up great. I know what you mean about the cookies, I made a ton last year. And probaly won't do that for a while. Unless I can figure a way to get more organized about it.

I use DH and fondant all the time. Just be sure to dowel the cake to support the cross.

If I am using the DH for a tiered cake or fondant covered, I add 2 tablespoons of flour to the mix. Tlhe butter recipe is a fav around here too.

If you put another cake on top of a cake, the weight can cause the cake underneath to collapse. I always dowel for support. Better to be safe than sorry.

You put dowels, cut to the height of the sheet cake under the cross (you will nedd a cake board under the cross) so that it does not crush or damage the sheet cake under. This way, you can also take the cross off the sheetcake when it comes tome to cut and you can cut it seperately.
