I want to make this cake topper. My idea is that it will be rounded like the moon with the hill and flat for the bottom. I want it to stand up as a background for the figurines that i already have.
Should I use Gumpaste? Any suggestions would be GREAT!
Thanks in advance for this!

edit: I was thinking of making it flat and attaching it with sticks.

I would think gumpaste/fondant will work. How large are the figures? Maybe sculpt out of rice krispies with fondant will give more stability?

I think this would be so pretty done in color flow--the moon would be shiny and a bit "puffy". You could then stencil on the figures using edible marker or pipe them on with black royal.

I want it pretty much flat but standing up ...sort of like a picture frame.
I have not worked with gumpaste yet.... My wilton's class is in May. LOL
I'm just wanting to practice for a pretty large cake comming up May 21st.
Thanks for your reply.

You have a good point. I just have not done color flow except for the wiltons 2nd class. I may play around with it and see how it looks!

Thanks!

What about doing it as a chocolate transfer? I thin that would work.
