Need Help W/ Asking Fair Price For Ka Mixer!

This may be the wrong forum for this but it's where I'm used to posting and I thought I could get some pretty good advice here... so I hope it's okay!
We're really strapped financially and are going to have to sell some things. I've decided that my KA mixer is going to have to go but I can't really decide what the fair asking price for it would be. I didn't have time to shop around so I ended up paying too much for it - which I think is clouding my judgment.
I know how exciting it can be to get one of these so I want to give someone a decent deal but I need it to be worth selling, so I need to make what I can off of it.
It's a KA Artisan mixer, pink (KA's cook for the cure edition), purchased September 2006. I still have the original receipt, box, etc. and it's in like new condition. It's also still under warranty. It comes with the pour shield, 5 qt. SS bowl w/ handle, flat beater, dough hook, wire whip and manual.
I paid $350.00 + shipping (total of about $370.00) for it.
What do you all think would be a fair asking price for it? Thanks for your help! ![]()
its fairly easy to get a brand new one for 300.00, so i would go less than that. since its still under warranty though, maybe 250 or 275? are you selling it locally or online? if its online, you have to consider what they'll pay after shipping and price it low enough that anyone will want it. good luck!!
I purchased that same mixer for $269 brand new.
I'd say more like $200 used?
If you still have the box and the receipt, have you tried returning it? Some stores will accept returns for up to a year...
This may not be the ideal situation for you, but have you thought of pawning somethings instead of selling them. That way you could at least get them back when things are financially better.
When things where really tough for me a few years back, I pawned all my rings, gold etc.. just payed the interest every 3 months and when i got back on my feet, got my things back.
Good Luck, and pray that things get better soon! (it will!!)
Thank you for your suggestions.... I was thinking somewhere around 250-275. ![]()
For $250-275 you could buy a brand new one... I wouldn't pay that for a used KA. JMO
Gosh, I'm sorry but I would pay no more than $150 for a used KA...especially the 5 qt. one. I so wish there was another way for you to make ends meet since I don't think you are going to get that much for it and when you are more financially stable, you will probably want it back. I wish you the best of luck ![]()

That's not quite right - there isn't anything WRONG with the mixer. Returning items like this ends up costing everyone more in the long run.
And since they go for $249-299 new right now, I know I wouldn't pay over $180-200 for a used one.
I'd try putting it on your local Craig's list.

I don't think this is an honest thing to do. I would try Craigs list or ebay. I doubt you'll get $275 for it though. Good luck, and I hope your situation improves soon!

This is really an unrealistic expectation. You paid way too much for it to begin with. You can get them on sale for $250 with extra attatchments too. There may be someone willing to pay up to $200 for a used one, but personally I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a used Artisan and if I were selling one, I wouldn't think of asking for more than $125.

Each store sets their own return policy... and some are VERY lenient because it brings them more business (who here HASN'T regretted an impulse purchase?). When they turn around and re-sell it (perhaps at a discount), who gets hurt?
I've worked in the retail industry... and the only time we EVER had a problem with someone returning things was a woman who apparently bought an entirely new wardrobe each month, saved the tags and then returned everything - only to buy all new stuff (rinse and repeat). When it's that blatant and ongoing, THEN I can see a problem. But purchasing something you relize you can't afford and returning it is not something I would consider unethical.
