Try to get your hands on a Wear-Ever Super Shooter...they haven't made them for years but they are the best because they plug in so they can handle stiff doughs. I sell them every year at Christmas on ebay (they go for a pretty penny then) but you can get them off-season for much cheaper. I get them at various thirft stores for a couple of dollars.......

My mom had a great one when I was growing up, and I found that you can still get used ones on ebay. It is usually called a vintage cookie press and comes in all aluminum color or aluminum and copper color. The dough is pressed by turning the knob at the top. There are interchangable disks for different shapes. I got mine off of ebay and I love it! Nothing like the original old ones! From the brochure it looks like it was from the 1960's.

I have an older Hamilton Beach one that is battery operated. Saves on the cranking and pulling to squeeze to get the dough out. I use it very christmas. I found a second one recently at a thrift store for about $3.

I have the pampered chef cookie press and like it a lot. The discs produce larger cookies than many of the other presses. I have found it to be sturdy and pretty easy on the hands.

I must be crazy but I have the orginal "The Super Shooter" cookie press and the pamper chef press. I actually like the older one better because it has the metal blades.
