This has probably been asked before, but how do I keep my cake from slipping on the decorated cake board? I take a board that is 2"larger than my cake, cover it with fabric, and then cover that with clear contact paper. I have a board that is the same size as the cake directly under the cake. How do I keep the 2 boards from slipping against each other? Or am I just doing overkill on the board directly under the cake? Even if I don't use the smaller board, how do I prevent slipping? I know, so many questions.

I always stick some icing (buttercream or royal) between the boards or between the cake and the board. You dont really need a board the same size as the cake unless it is a fondant cake

Thanks merissa, I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. I tried piping gel, only because my teacher had suggested that once. But it never helped and I ended up having a cake slide around on the board, causing problems.

I bought a huge roll of that no-slip grip rubber 'fabric' and cut it into circles of varying diameter...then I use it to go under the cakes on the turntable, under the cake transport thing that I use and throw it on the floor in the car..basically I use a layer of it between all surfaces to prevent sliding around. So far, it has worked great........ It's the only way I was able to get my most recent cake 1 1/2 hrs. away and still in one piece icon_smile.gif
