I have to carve a football helmet cake and it has to be chocolate cake what would be the best recipe to use, scratch or box. I had my most durable cake crumble on saturday icon_cry.gif after carving it and I have never had much luck with chocolate cake so what do I do I am really worried about this cake icon_sad.gif .

i use box chocolate and add the pudding to it, then i freeze it and carve it frozen. chocolate is harder to carve on than the white. good luck!!!!!

It's best to carve the cake while it's frozen. Are you doing that?

have you considered making a chocolate pound cake? It is much more durable. I have to say that I agree carving a frozen cake is soooooo much easier. Good Luck.
