Shine In Buttercream?

I apologize if this has already been discussed, I did search a lot before deciding to post and could only find references to painting lusterdust to make things shine.

Can anyone tell me what is possibly being used in this photo... http://www.confetticakes.com/wd24c.html

Is it lusterdust that is painted on the pink leaves and vines?

Also, I have the Whimsical Bakehouse book and in a couple of their pictures, their white borders are almost mother of pearl looking. I can't imagine this being something that was painted on, but I'm not sure.

those look like gumpaste leaves and royal icing vines ono the cake and fondant ribbon. not any bc from what I can see there. and looks like she dusted lustre dust on the vines and leaves and ribbon.

I'm with chaptlps, I'm sure it's a pink lustre dust... also, super pearl dust will give a pearly look, so that's probably what they did in the WBH book.

Lustre dust is a touch tricky to use at first, but once you get the consistency down, it's wonderful!
