I've been asked to do a 60th Birthday Cake for the Father of one of my colleagues at work. All I know about him is he loves football, but she doesn't want a football themed cake.

I'm one of the working full time, baker in the evening types and I have a wedding cake for that weekend also, so I need a simple design. I was thinking of maybe doing a nice fondant parcel cake with a bow which wouldn't take me too long to decorate after I have the wedding cake out of the way. I won't be able to charge full going rate for this either, small office, this girl is only an apprentice hasn't a great deal of money and has agreed to let me leave cards at the venue instead of profit.

Any ideas of manly colours for a parcel cake or any other ideas for a 60th Birthday please.

what about a smiply iced cake with some seasonal fruit on top? Would be real easy and quick.

I know this one is for Christmas but I love the way the package is folded and taped on the ends. And the airmail stamp is cute too.

Maybe you could incorporate the 60th birthday with the addresses on the package like:

Steve Smith
The Big 6-0 Lane
Gray Hair, FL

You can incorporate different sayings for aging or getting old to make up the addresses on the package

A blue bow would look masculine and nice with the brown or the cream color is nice too. you could write the happy birthday on the cake board.
