I've been asked by a dear dear friend to make a cake for his ordination. This is obviously a really special day for him and his family, and I'm so anxious to make a lovely cake worthy of the occasion. Only problem is...I don't know where to start. Any ideas? Maybe one of you incredible artists will inspire me. Any help is appreciated!

results of search for: "priest"

my favorite easily adapted. (tho' I'd probably do the background as a Bible with in a dark brown or black to look like leather with a gold cross on it)

A cake in form of a church or a cross. Or maybe a stain glass window made of pipping gel, with a religious figure.

Ok, I've done this cake for Easter, but it would work here, too. In the center of the cake pipe the outline of a big cross using a tip 3 or 4. Then carefully draw in squiggly lines using a tip 1 or smaller and black gel. Fill in the random shapes with different colors of piping gel - this creates a really pretty stained glass look. Then I do a spray of flowers at angles from the bottom of the cross. A reverse shell border and a simple ruffle trim around the sides using a 67 ot 68 tip.

Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

fyi: I choose the particular cake to offer as a suggestion, as the stole, the long piece of fabric a priest/pastor wears around the neck (the blue fondant part on the cake) is placed upon the new pastor/priest at ordination as a symbol of having taken on the "yoke of Christ" -- a very fitting symbol for inclusion on the ordination cake.
