I know I've seen it on here before (Or I THINK I did) But can you tell me approximately how much a 5lb. tub of Satin Ice will cover?

Thanks!

Just depends on where you buy it. I have started buying it in 25lb containers because it saves quite a bit. At my local cake store 5 lb is $28. I think you can get it her on cc. I just paid $62 for 20 lbs and that has been the best deal I have found so far.

do you mean how much cake it will cover? i've never used satic ice brand, but my homemade stuff, 2 lbs will cover a 10 inch cake with left overs.

By my calculations, and per the Satin Ice website, here is what is needed for different size round cakes. These amounts are for a 4" high cake:

6" round cake 10.00 oz
8" round cake 14.55 oz
10" round cake 19.70 oz
12" round cake 25.45 oz
14" round cake 31.82 oz
16" round cake 38.79 oz

I also have the amounts for square pans and just about any other pan out there. A 5lb tub of Satin Ice is 80oz - so one tub will cover quite a bit of cake!! I weigh out the amount called for and I always have leftover - but I also roll it quite thin (maybe too thin).

Click my www link and just about all of the cakes covered in fondant are satin ice except the red/white bridal shower cake (MMF) and the Wilton Class Course cakes. You can color just as you would any other fondant. I think it is easier to knead the color in because Satin Ice is a little softer than regular fondant.

Look in my photos and its the one titled 'ivory fondant wedding'. I bought a 20 lb ivory tub for that cake. Loved it......much better than the wilton stuff.

I bought my black Satin Ice from cakedeco and was very happy with them!! I buy white and the other colors from a local cake deco supply store. My store also carries the Satin Ice gumpaste which I love working with!

NVP- all my fondant cakes are satin ice starting with the sideways picture of a 5 tier blue whimsey cake. love the stuff!

satin ice rolls out a lot thinner and easier than mmf!

I saw it on Into the Oven, the 20lbs white Satin Ice for $49.99. That seems like a really good deal!

huh? thats crazy cheap. i wonder if they misunderstood, or if you did. in the smaller containers it is usually anyway from $6-$8 a lb....i buy either from satinfinefoods (the manufacturer) or a lower priced website and in the largest 20lb container, it is still $3 a lb for ordering in bulk.

there is a satin ice POURED fondant powder mix, which is cheaper...wonder if thats what they meant...call them back to clarify and tell them you need ROLLED fondant.

check out this website, the shipping is fast and cheap. usually arrives within about 3 days of my order. www.intotheoven.com or www.satinfinefoods.com
