and by undecorated bulk cookies, I mean chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, etc., how many cookies (on avg) are in a pound? I've got a request for pricing for a weekly order of cookies for a community class. I think I want to charge per pound, but I need a rough idea of how many 2 1/2" round cookies are in a pound. I'm housebound today or I'd go buy some stuff and make a batch. This is for a friend at the police dept, so if my pricing is on the low side this time, I'm okay with it. I just need a starting point to work with. Please help ASAP! Thanks so much!

momsandraven,

I do this, but I sell by the dozen not the pound, I find it much easier this way. Each type of cookie will have a different weight based on their density. Chocolate Chip cookies tend to be lighter than Oatmeal, etc.... I don't know if that helps or not.

For your reference, I sell chocolate chip cookies for $8.00 a dozen. I would sell Oatmeal Raisin for $10.00 a dozen.

I sell by the dozen too. Unless you weigh each cookie before it's baked it would be hard to make too sell by the pound. My choc. chunk, oatmeal, peanut butter, and snickerdoodles go for $7 a dozen

I sell by weight, but i'm afraid it won't be much help to you, beacause I make mine bite size, with a size 100 ice cream server, i guess it's 3/8 oz. At that size I make about 100 cookies per kilo that'd be about 45 cookies per pound. Sorry

By the dozen. I would predict that if you tell people your price per pound, the first thing out of their mouth will be, "How many cookies is that?" so you might as well sell them in number-quantity to start with rather than weight-quantity.

LOL, Good point indydebi. icon_smile.gif I hadn't thought of that. I guess I need to give this some more thought. I did go ahead and quote my friend at the police dept. a price for 6 weeks of cookies. He knows that it's a special price for him and not to blab what he's paying.

Solecito, thanks for your input! I love that there are so many ways to do things, and here on CC you can find someone doing just about every way possible!
