Royal Or Buttercream On Fondant

I'm just curious...does it matter if you have piping to do on fondant whether you use royal or buttercream? Is royal easier to pipe or looks nicer in your opinion? Trying to figure out if it is worth the trouble to make up a batch of royal icing.

Either will work, but if you make a mistake, you can let the royal dry, and just pick it off... BC will leave a greasy mark!

Another method is just to work a little water into the fondant and you get a piping consistency which obviously matches your fondant perfectly
