I know, another pricing question.... icon_sad.gif

Please share what you feel is a fair price for this cake.... I usually only do cakes for family and close friends. This was done for my neighbor's dd. She said everyone was asking who made the cake (yeah for me icon_biggrin.gif ) and I want to be prepared to price better should any calls come in. thumbs_up.gif

It is made with the Wondermold pan for the doll cake with a 10" round base. Both cakes are torted and filled. The 10" is torted 2x's and the dress is torted 3x's. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, fondant accents, candy melt shells and chocolate fudge buttercream for the filling. I know everyone's ingredient costs differ based on purchasing ingredients and the ingredients used - if I did my math right, I think this cake cost me about $40 to make from the doll to the box, boards, butter etc. icon_confused.gif This time I only charged for ingredients and I made sure my neighbor was aware of that. I requested that she not share that with anyone who may ask.

I have the pricing matrix, so I am going to play with that but, appreciate any advice you have to offer.

TIA,
-Penny

That's a beautiful cake. I would have got $80.00 - $90.00 for that cake. Great job.

great job on the cake. If the cost is $40 then you need to double the price - $80.00 plus for the cake.

Pricing cakes is my biggest problem, so I'm sure I won't be much help, but it may depend on how much you paid for the doll.

I did a doll cake a few months ago that I charged $60 for and it was on a double layer sheet cake.

It depends on your area. I'm pretty sure that I undercharged--(should be my motto LOL) so I would say for your very pretty cake I would charge $60-$70 depending on the price of the doll.

Good luck. Again, it depends on where you live. Some areas are more expensive than others.

I agree, at least $80. Did you purchase the doll too? I'd have a price if they provide the doll, and one if you have to go out and buy it.

Thanks for all of your replies. They are a real help! I had told her that if anyone asked, to tell them she paid $75. But, I think I will charge $80 should I get a similar order in the future. For this one, I had supplied the doll ($4.99) but, having them supply the doll is an option I will also consider. This time, I picked the doll based on the birthday girls' characteristics and I found one that was pretty inexpensive.
