Has anyone seen/used these new dusts approved by the FDA for consumption?? They are like luster and pearl dusts, only edible. I'm hoping they are good and come out with more colors in the future. I've found them online for sale but can't find much info on them.

Non-toxic doesn't necessarily mean edible. The dusts aren't edible, just for "decorative use" only. But they aren't toxic....that's what I've read.

Country Kitchen and Sugarcraft have had the FDA approved dusts for awhile. Country kitchen has the Platinum dusts which are very limited in colors. Sugarcraft has the Crystal Color Dusts which have a ton of colors. Pretty much these ones are "made" for consumption and do not contain lead and other various things that you may find in the regular dusts. Sugarcraft mentions that they are certified food colors and that you can actually mix them in your icings to match colors. But they are $5.00 for a 1/2 oz.

i stand corrected - it's those that contain contain Iron blue or Chromium Oxide that should be labeled "for decorative use only".

Has anyone used the platinum dusts?

Yes they are--they are FDA appoved. Wilton usually will not put out anything unless it can be eaten. And they are Kosher too.
