Royal Icing When Dry

does everyone find that whyen their royal icing dries, it has more of a matte finish, or is it jsut me??
i need to make a logo, which is red. I got the nice bright red colouir i desired, piped my out line, but when it dried it was almost a blood red color, and very matte.

BUMP!!

But I did just read that someone said RI dries more matte and won't have a shiny finish. But the bump will get you better answers=)

Yes, RI dries matte. Not sure what you could do to put a gloss on it of some kind if that is the look you want.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm curious too...

It does dry matt - I understand that if you steam it after it will have a shinier finish - alternatively paint it with piping gel or confectioner's glaze when dry.
