I had a lady pick up a 9x13 slab yesterday morning for her son's birthday party...About 20 minutes later I get a call.
She had to slam on the brakes on her way home and the cake slid off the front seat onto the floor
and could I fix it?
So I said bring it over and I will see what I can do...Who in their right mind puts a cake on the front seat...anyway...she comes right over and I expect maybe one side to be smushed a bit....All 4 sides are smashed to beat hell!!!! Like what did you do to this thing!! So I scraped all the icing off and tried to re-ice the sides and put the border back on.At least the writing and the top design weren't touched. So I fixed it as best I could and she was soooo Thankful!! I guess her hubby was furious with her!She was so thrilled she gave me an extra $20.00 bucks!
I guess maybe next time she'll put it on the floor!

People never cease to amaze me. They will drive just as they would without a cake in the car....they just don't get it!
It was very nice of you to fix it for her! Probably gave your business a little boost as well!

Don't people realize that you CAN'T put a cake on the front or back seat?...dah
When my customers pick up their cakes, they head straight for the seats and I tell them, "please put it in the trunk so that it can be flat and level".
Or dig this...they have a person to hold it!!!
They just don't get it...no seats, or people holding the cake ![]()
Laurel, you were wonderful to try and fix it and extra $20.00 too boot ![]()
I have a speech I give everytime a customer picks up a cake before they come. I tell them to clean out their trunk and bring a silpat sheet (or the like) if they have one. I tell them that seats are no good and the cake is more likely to make it safely to its destination if they follow what I tell them.
