Hi everyone! I'm new to all this, so hopefully someone can help me out.
My sister got married a few years ago and she had the most delicious cake I've ever eaten! It was a really dense, moist cake, one layer of which was chocolate and the other layer vanilla. Supposedly they were both mud cake, but any and all of the mud cake recipes I've found have contain nuts and marshmallow cream, neither or which my sisters cake had. Perhaps it was just modified to exclude the nuts etc. Has anyone ever tried that? Does anyone know of a good moist/dense cake recipe? (chocolate and vanilla)

Hi Jillo,
here is a moist and dense chocolate cake. Give it a try

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup strong brewed coffee
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease and flour two 9 inch rounds or one 9x13 inch pan.

2. combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center.

3. Put eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Batter will be thin. Pour into prepared pans.

4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes

my favorate chocolate cake recipe:

1.5 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cups cocoa
1.25 teaspoons soda
2 eggs
2/3 cups oil
1 cup buttermilk/sour cream/sour milk/yougort

mix together
bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes till cooked

However, here's what I like to do with the cakes: as soon as tehy come out of the pan, wrap with plastic wrap, then place ina grocery bag and cool. It keeps it moist and soft and oh so yummy
