OH if somebody could share a good/easy recipe for a red velvet cake(which I have not made ever),and cream cheese frosting I would be sooooooooooo greatful
I just now got a possible wedding cake order but she wants a sample of red velvet w/cream chz icing and almond flavor fondant by this weekend
few quick q's..is box red velvet orscratch red velvet better? and I use fondant regularly but never have flavored it before,so do I just knead in the flavor like I do the color and how would I know how much flavor to use? AND (sorry),she says she heard fondant taste aweful but its what she wants,so does marshmellow fondant or satin icing taste better than Wiltons?any help would be appreciated
I have a scratch red velvet recipe that I use and get rave reviews from. PM me if you still need it; I don't use mixes ever so I don't have one based on a mix. I also have a CC BC recipe u could use.
As for the fondant...I use Satin Ice for big fondant jobs, and MMF for plaques and accents. I like using Satin Ice best but I think its just a personal preference.
i aint even gonna ask why she wants almond flavor. i like newleywed's recipe for rv. I dont do mix so I cant help u on which one tastes better.
re fondant.. anything tastes better than wilton, but I like satin ice or a homemade one that I recently tried
I use the Duncan Hines red velvet mix with buttermilk instead of water, and extra egg, 1 box of instant white chocolate pudding, and 2 TBSP of Hershey's cocoa powder added--it is basically a red colored milk chocolate cake mix to start.
It's a nice sturdy cake that's delicious. I think it would be great covered in almond fondant.
