Ok everyone, I'm a bit stumped. I have a request for a wedding cake. The couple getting married are so laid back they have just let me run with it. This is making it hard for me to try and figure out what to do. Their colours are claret red and silver and they have a bird house and loon theme running in various parts of the wedding. I not sure whether to go with something simple with red and silver or try and incorporate the bird houses and/or loons into the cake. They are getting married at a resort in Huntsville, ON Canada so there is a bit of a outdoor theme. Any help would be appreciate. Pictures work best for me if anyone has any. Thanks and happy cake decorating

That sounds like a great colour combo (red and silver). I can't wait to see what you come up with and what the other's suggest!!

I guess it´s a matter of taste. I would go with something simple. Perhaps, incorporate some flowers as well.

Ok, how about icing the cake in the red or covering it in fondant that's red (I know wedding cakes are usually white...but I think this would look really dramatic) then do the bottom layer with a silver ribbon around the bottom, cover the middle layer with silver cornelli lace over the red icing/fondant (you'd have to pipe on the cornelli and then carefully paint over it with silver dust mixed with vodka) and a delicate bead bottom border (or use dragees for the border) and then plain for the top layer with a silver ribbon (just like the bottom layer). I don't know what kind of flowers they are using, but gumpaste white and red calla lillies with spirals of thin silver ribbon would make a really dramatic topper.

Hope this helps!
