Shimmer Dust Vs. Luster Dust

Does anyone know if they are the same thing? I called my local Michael's asking for luster dust and they said they didn't have it but that they did have shimmer dust. Anyone with experience with shimmer dust? Thanks for your help.

I'll do my best to help.

When I use the Shimmer Dust , I take some between my fingers and sprinkle on.

The Luster Dust can be applied dry with a cosmetic brush or sponge or brushed on with a mixture of Vodka or Lemon flavoring.

I'm sure there are many different definitions for the different dusts, but my impression is that shimmer dust is more the consistency of glitter. Luster dust is super-fine and powdery.

Luster dust gives a matalic look.

Michaels's sells Wilton's shimmer duts, kinda like a glittey sparkles.

I perfer the luster dust.

From what I understand, if you want to "paint" you would use luster dust combined with vodka.

If you want to make something glittery, use cake sprinkles.
